Sooooo…
Some extremely exciting news in the Scarlett household:
WE’RE BUYING A HOUSE!
Yes, I know, 21 and 22 years old and owning our own property? There’s no time like the present!
As exciting as this has all been, (and really, it’s been a lot to take in) that doesn’t mean that it’s been easy.
This housing market is INSANE right now. Our budget is not THAT great and when we’re in a time where homes are relatively cheap, people are able to buy houses with cash and well, cash talks. We’ve now put in offers on 3 homes. 2 of which we have lost and the other one we’re currently waiting to hear back from…hopefully by 5:00 tonight! It’s a short sale which means we probably wouldn’t be moving until the late summer (perfect weather in Vegas, right?) but whatever!! We have had so many blessings coming our way with this, it’s incredible! Things just keep getting more and more exciting in our marriage and I’m so happy I started this blog so I can remember it all step by step.
Time Flies as Spring Has Sprung!
We’re coming up on April and I am blown away. Where has the time gone? Beau and I have almost been married for 5 months! As a little kid, all you want is for time to fly, and now? It won’t stop and there are so many moments I want to pause and always remember.
With time, unfortunately, comes pain and sadly last Friday, March 22, my best friends father went to be with The Lord. My heart hurts for her because I know the pain and suffering she’s going through having dealt with a great loss myself. My blessing of an uncle has offered to do her funeral service and I got to spend 2 wonderful days with her and her smart, beautiful, 3 year old daughter this week. Although it was a sad reason for her trip out here, it’s all those moments I wish I could capture and keep forever. But that’s why I started this blog! Maybe I would have never remembered this trip in 20 years from now and now I can look back and remember how much quality time was spent with my best friend
To lighten things a little bit, over the last weekend my uncle took us on our Christmas present lunch (it’s annual), since Brittany was in town for spring break, to the Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere. The food was fantastic but so expensive! Of course we all made light of the situation with jokes and what not (a way a family of comedians deals with anger) but needless to say, until they lower the prices, we probably won’t be going back. The view was IMPECCABLE and it was nice spending that amazing time with my mom, stepdad, uncle, aunt, cousin, and especially my husband since I don’t have much time to see him otherwise.
I started a new thing that a friend from work told be about called DietBet.com. Basically, each player has a month to lose 4% of their body weight and their entrance fee is $25 dollars. Whoever reaches their goal, splits the pot! Genius? Yes. Although having Samantha here kind of screwed up my diet, I got back on track on Thursday and have been hitting the gym hard! Also, my wrist is completely healed (thank God!!) and I am able to start back to my Jillian Michael’s DVDs on Monday!
I must put a plug in here:
If you like to read magazines or catch up on the latest in Vegas, I will be featured in April’s “Party Pit News” newsletter and I would l love for you all to read it. I’ll make sure I add the photos from the photo shoot here as well.
Lastly, I have to give a quick thank you to my husband. Lately things have been tough with money, and him getting a new job, that we haven’t been able to do much or see each other much at all. We have been waiting patiently for his tips to pick up at Tao and since it had been cold up until about a week ago, it wasn’t happening. On Thursday morning, as Samantha was leaving and I was waiting for him to get home, he came to the door with beautiful flowers for me. What did he do with the first amount of money he got? Thought of me! That, my friends, is a keeper! I love him so very very much!
As April is ahead, the weather gets more beautiful, and people naturally get happier. Look around and remember the one who created it all and as Easter approaches, remember who died for it all as well!

Life’s Little Blessings
This is going to be a short one but I wanted to share a few awesome things God did for me this week. Starting with last Sunday: since working the swing shift, it’s hard to get to bed at a decent hour and it’s even harder to get up and do something before 1pm even with a night off. However, my internal alarm woke me up at 9:30 am and my body was not letting me fall back asleep. As I laid in bed fighting with myself over whether I should wake up my husband or not and get us to church, I made a decision to get up and go. I leaned over to Beau and told him that if he gets ready in 15 minutes I would buy him a smoothie on the way! How could he say no?! ![]()
When we got to the smoothie place, still feeling like I should be back in bed, their credit card machine was down and what was I paying with? A credit card. SOOOO the girl made our smoothies regardless for free! I really believe that God was thanking me for making the decision to get us to church that morning!
THEN (and this is the big one)….
Last night I was leaving my mom’s house after a great night of sitting in the jacuzzi with Beau and her, I apparently ran the red light turning on the Rainbow from Lake Mead. I think I was more focused on following Beau home then I was on the lights and well, mistakes happen. Unfortunately, cops don’t understand mistakes and I got pulled over! There’s a saying that says, “if you only pray when you’re in trouble, you’re in trouble!” which I totally agree with and recently I have been reading a daily devotion on love and marriage and praying for a great healthy marriage with my husband and thanking God for him! Yesterday, I had forgotten to read my devotion and decided to read it really quick on the way to my moms!
Back to getting pulled over…
As the very nice cop approached me, I was stunned because I had no idea what I had done. He took my license, registration, and insurance, you know the deal, and as I sat there, all I could do was pray he was going to let me go (which never happens. Especially with running red lights). What happens? He let’s me go! Doesn’t even tell me he’s giving me a warning. He just said, “have a nice night! Drive safe!” I couldn’t believe it! I just got away with driving murder!!
Anyway, I think it’s important to share your blessings with people so they can continue to pour in.
Praise God!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
Birthdays, and Reno, and Jobs…OH MY!
My oh my, where do I begin?
As far as jobs go, I left you with a cliff hanger when I said Beau was trying to get a job as a busser at a day club…well, he got hired at Tao Beach! I am so proud of him for working so hard so we can start saving money to buy a house by the end of the year. We don’t see each other that much since he got the job because he works all day and I work all night but we know we’re doing this for the right reasons. As for me, I’m still working 30+ hours a week at the brand new Quad that opened on March 1st. It’s truly beautiful inside and with the exception of a few problems with the new tables and what not, it seems to be a great thing for all of us. We’re bringing in extra money in tips and that’s all that matters!
Starting back at Valentines Day, I woke up to beautiful flowers and a delicious breakfast of crepes and fresh fruit. If you know Beau and me, you know that I’m the cook and he cleans up so him making me breakfast AND cleaning up was truly a treat!

The next night we finished off celebrating Valentine’s Day with my uncle and aunt at Maggianos!
That Saturday, the 16th, we attended the very neon San Diego State game where the Rebels, of course, went to work. The student section was amazing and the game and after party were even better!

Though all these great things have been happening in our lives, I had been in a considerable amount of pain due to a botched root canal by my old dentist (sucks, right?). Over the last month I had been attending a new dentist and I’m happy to report, after about $1000 (that’s not the happy part), my tooth is free of pain and it’s been fixed! Praise God!
Next, on February 24, it was Michael’s 22nd birthday! On Saturday the 23rd, in the afternoon I saw the show Nunsense at the LVH with my mom, aunt, and uncle. I’m going to you $40 right now and tell you to NEVER see that show!! I couldn’t get out of that showroom fast enough so we could start celebrating Michael’s birthday! We started the night off at Via Brazil (a meat lover’s paradise) and ended it with a table and bottle of Belvedere at our favorite gay club, SHARE. We had a blast and to make a long story short, Beau had to come get me at the end of his work night. 😊
Last and DEFINITELY not least was our big yearly trip to Reno….
Austin, Diana, Michael, Beau, and I headed in a 5 seater car to the horrible city of Reno to watch the Rebels, yet again, destroy the Wolfpack in basketball. The whole weekend was kind of a blur but we did manage to get kicked out of the game for “taunting” and kicked out of our hotel for a noise complaint at 3 in the morning which forced us to head back quite a few hours earlier than we were planning. I will tell you right now, everything that went wrong for us was strictly because we were UNLV fans. Even the cops told us that! Regardless, it made for a very fun trip and it’s not gonna stop us from heading back for more every year!
As far as our health:
Beau got bored with working out so he stopped working out with me which is fine. But I have really kept my dedication constant and I’m proud of myself for that. However, I had to stop weight lifting. Unfortunately, dealing blackjack comes with consequences and one of those is wrist pain. For the last 2 weeks now, I have been dealing (no pun intended) with excruciating pain and I’ve had to wear a wrist brace to bed and whenever I’m not doing anything. I don’t think it’s getting better and I haven’t gone to the doctor but I’m hoping that if I just keep babying it, it will just go away. I’m not a “go to the doctor” kind of person. BUT, there’s always a silver lining! I have really started to up my cardio game and I started running on my way home from work. I have been putting on an episode of Gossip Girl and just going to town and in 42 minutes I have ran 3.82 miles without stopping. For those of you who know me, you know I don’t run, I’ll do the bike or the elliptical (which I feel is somewhat a safe way out) but the treadmill? No more than 20 minutes and definitely not running. I can completely give credit to the Jillian Michaels videos for conditioning my cardio. I now have a new hobby and I LOVE IT!
I have one more thing to tell you all about and I’ll be done, I swear!! See, this is why I shouldn’t wait a month before I blog!
2 WORDS: coconut oil.
If you don’t know what this is, you are missing probably the greatest household item known to man.
I use it for shaving, taking off my makeup, night cream, lotion, I put it in my hair before I go to bed and wash it out the next morning, and yes, cooking!! And I’ve gotten my husband to use it for shaving as well and he’s sold! You must try it!
And here’s a few pictures to finish it off of dates and nights out:
Alright, that’s all from me. I swear my next blog won’t be this intense
Will You Be My Valentine?
SO much has been going on in our lives lately that it is truly hard to keep up with this blog! But, since it was my new year’s resolution, I WILL DO IT.
Still going strong on our Jillian Michael’s 90 Day Body Revolution, we are seeing great results. I would say my best advice though to those of you following this blog to read about this specific subject, don’t watch the scale…watch what’s happening to your body! Anyway, we just recently have moved on to a new set of workouts which is nice because our bodies were just starting to get used to them and BAM we are starting all over again with the soreness. I personally started incorporating a lot more protein into my diet with MP Combat Protein and a variety of carb-smart meal replacement bars to bring to work since being there with a bunch of fattening foods in the EDR can be tempting!
*(On a side note, a great place to get these things is Bodybuilding.com)*
I’ve always been someone who worked out regularly (sometimes I went through months of not working out at all like we all have) but because these workouts are only 30 minutes long, I really enjoy working out and look forward to it. Don’t let that fool you though, we did P90X and I would say workouts 3 and 4 are comparable if not HARDER than any of the workouts I did on that program. I promise to keep updating on our progess and hopefully some pictures soon
Back to our regular lives, however…
Since the last blog I wrote, although a very depressing outcome, we had the Super Bowl where the Baltimore Ravens and the San Fransico 49er’s went head to head in a very exciting game! I personally don’t like the Ravens because I am a HUGE Steeler fan but it was a nice time to spend with our families! Beau and I made great money on the nights leading up to the big game at work and Beau made a little extra money with the Ravens because my mom put $10 on the game for him!

I recently applied for a job through CJC (Casino Job Center) to become a dealer at a club pool this summer for a day job while still continuing my 40+ hours as Britney Spears in the Dealertainer Pit at THE QUAD (formerly the Imperial Palace). During the summer, it gets relatively slow in Las Vegas unless you are at a pool because of the extreme heat so I figured to speed up the process of getting our own home, I would start working two jobs while I’m young. This center calls you and tells you when there are auditions at the pools for the summer gigs and I’m pleased to say I have been hired though them for now
Beau has also applied for a day job at Marquee Day Club at the Cosmopolitan and is still waiting to hear back from them!
While going to school and working our little butts off, ’tis the season of love and every year Beau and I get a room down on the strip and celebrate Valentines Day the weekend before the actual holiday! This time, we chose Vdara at City Center and it was seriously an amazing time! We went to the New Mexico/UNLV game on Saturday, checked in to our room, and headed out to the Mandalay Bay for dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Hussong’s and played a few slot machines to end the night! When we got back to our hotel room, a friend of mine who works at Vdara sent us up a bottle of champaigne to wish us a happy Valentines Day! We are still so thankful for that!
![487862_4353778525721_48118690_n[1]](http://thescarlettstory.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/487862_4353778525721_48118690_n1.jpg?w=225&h=300)
The next day when we finally woke up, we got ourselves ready and played Vegas tourist for the day at the Madame Tussaude’s Wax Museum. We had such a great time! I have been there before but Beau hadn’t and a lot had changed since the last time I went so it was something really great for us both to see. AND we got a local’s discount!! When we got back to the hotel, we had some time to kill before dinner so after watching TV for a few hours and just enjoying eachother’s company in our beautiful hotel room, we went down to the lounge and nightclub, HYDE, at the Bellagio to have a few drinks. I celebrated my 21st birthday there so I already knew what to expect but it was even better! We sat out on the balcony where you get to watch the water show and you’re so close you can even feel mist from the water! Our 4 drinks were a little bit expensive but we were on “vacation” so it didn’t matter. We followed drinks with our favorite, romantic dinner place, Todd English’s Olives (also on the balcony overlooking the fountains). Everything they serve there is incredible and it’s actually reasonably priced!
After dinner we decided to play a little more in the casino and we ended up playing Roulette for 6 HOURS!! Can you believe someone that deals this game for a living wouldn’t know better? haha! It was so fun though and you know what, if you play it right, you can make a pretty good amount of side money on it!
That’s all I’m gonna say!
Now it’s the day before the real Valentines Day and although our celebration is over, just as we did with our honeymoon, we look at everyday as an opportunity to love eachother and I really think thats the secret to a successful marriage
Although I still like flowers and all that gewey stuff on that special day
On Friday we’re breaking our diet and heading to Maggianio’s at the Fashion Show Mall with my Uncle Bill and Aunt Stephanie for a gift for us for Valentines Day and it’s a surprise gift for my aunt that we’re even going!
I am so blessed to have a family (one both sides) that love to spend time with us. It really shows a lot about my Uncle and Aunt that a great Valentine’s Day for them is spent with the two of us! I have always been raised with gifts from everyone on Valentine’s day because it’s a holiday of LOVE, not just for your significant other, but for everyone that matters to you in your life!!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
New Year, New Healthy Life Style
After eating our hearts out in the Dominican Republic, we decided that if we want to be able to do vacations like that more often, we should change our lifestyle when we’re not on vacation. We had our last great fattening meal at Maggianos for my Uncle Bill’s 60th birthday and what a fabulous night it was and it was the perfect meal to end our bad habits and start all new ones! Beau and I haven’t been eating bad at home…not in the slightest! But not only were we spending too much money on eating out but when we ate at home, it wasn’t quality, healthy ingredients. So to help us start a work out regimen and a healthy lifestyle in general, we ordered the Jillian Michaels 90 Day Body Revolution. We are now one week in and we are loving it! It’s only a 30 minute workout everyday and its a GOOD workout. The food has been delicious and we both have noticed a change in our attitudes and our energy level is great! On a side note, I have such a wonderful man who cleans up after me. The “I cook, he cleans” thing works so well for us. Working out together has also been really fun since we’re back to being on different schedules again. We have 12 weeks to go and I’m excited to see our final results!
Destination: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!
I’m not sure if I can technically consider this day one yet but it’s 1:40 am and we’re on our way to Miami. Beau and I thankfully were able to sit in the emergency exit aisle (being that we’re both over 6 feet tall the extra leg room is nice) but you get just a tiny bit of air from the door coming in and it is FREEZING! My poor husband didn’t bring a sweater even though I told him to (he’ll learn) and he’s attempting to sleep by putting his hands and arms inside his shirt. Of course this cheap American Airlines doesn’t give you blankets so if nothing else, it’s making us very anxious to be on the beach already!!
I laugh when I travel with my husband because it brings back memories of traveling with my own parents and observing the things they say to each other. My mom always waits until we’re at the airport to ask Dave if she has her wallet or something extremely important and they argue about who would have put it in the car and as soon as we find it we all laugh and I find similar situations going on in my own relationship. I’m pretty sure somewhere in the fine print of your marriage license it talks about airports and even having to stick with each other there.
Beau and I decided to bring one bag this trip because he had heard it cost $35 to check a bag! Ridiculous, right? So as we’re packing and arguing about how much our suitcase is going to weigh, he’s telling me he should just bring his own and carry it on and yadda yadda and when we weigh our bag, it comes out to 40 lbs on our own scale (50 lbs is the limit). Well, when we arrive to the airport, Beau, being the worrier he is told his dad that if need be, he may need to turn back around and bring us that other bag just in case we need to take items out. As we are checking in, what do we find out? 2 bags fly free and our one bag only weighed 43 lbs! Hahaha! These surer the great things I have to look forward to about married life. Ahh, memories! See? How would I even remember all of this if I hadn’t started this blog?
As I get older, I have to appreciate my mom teaching me how to travel properly and I realized as I was sitting in the McCarren Airport how much I am turning in to her. Not only have I switched from flip flops to tennis shoes, shorts to pants, and actually started bringing a sweater myself, I find myself, with the video camera in hand, filming the weirdos in the airport and not caring whether they see what I’m doing or not. They’re the weird ones, not me, and they will now forever grace my home movies and what do I lean over and tell beau as he’s telling me to stop like I used to tell my own mom to do? Just what she used to say, “You’ll be thankful I did this one day!”
I must share one more quite funny thing that happened in the airport…
At 10:00 at night on a Sunday, not many things are open in the D gates so when you want a drink, there’s either the Hudson News or the little cocktail bar right outside of our gate. So once we settled down, I had Beau stay with the bags and I headed over to the bar to get us a couple mixers for our already purchased mini bottles. As I’m deciding between the $5 Red Bull or the $3.50 sprite, the sweet, kinda weird, bartender asked me where we were going on our Honeymoon. Excitedly I tell him “The Dominican Republic!” Not thinking I would need to explain to a man that worked in the airport where anything is, the man looked back at me and said, seemingly happy for me, “OH! Canada!”….that was one of those moments where I wasn’t sure whether I should just let him think that’s where the Dominican Republic was or if I should give him the geography lesson he needed before someone much ruder than myself came along. I awkwardly told him, after being so stunned at what just happened, “Ummm noooo…it’s actually down south…” To which he replies, “I’m stupid.”
I can’t make this kind of stuff up! Only in Vegas!
Day one:
Complete! We have finally arrived in this beautiful country and I honestly am a little overwhelmed. The ride here was interesting because you do see all of the poverty stricken areas of the country and when you arrive to your hotel, all of that does a complete 180! I must say their airport was beautiful and the people there were not NEAR as pushy as when I went to Mexico. The hotel staff is very sweet and to make things even better, our hotel was overbooked so they put us in the nicer hotel next door for the night, gave us $200 in credits (which only means one thing at an all-inclusive resort: spa time!), access to both hotels for our whole stay, and free Internet for our whole stay which is awesome because its like $30 a day!! It was really a blessing from God. Out of all of the people checking in, how did we get so lucky??
Anyway, after a much needed 4 hour nap which was meant to only be an hour, we went to Matsuri (the Japanese/tepanyaki grill restaurant for the sushi bar and al a cart menu because you have to have a reservation for the grill. It was delicious! But we definitely of ordered way too much. Chicken chow mein, shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour pork on top of sushi may have been a slight example of our eyes being way bigger than our stomach! After dinner we went for a nice walk around the massive pool and to the by dark beach which I can already tell is where I’ll be spending my trip!
To end our night, because its a little too windy to go in the pool tonight, we are getting in the hot tub in our room! Can’t wait to check everything out in the day time tomorrow!
Day 2:
We finally got ourselves out in the sun! But we started our day at the supreme buffet which was FANTASTIC! They had everything imaginable and it was all made right in front of you. Fresh squeezed juice from any fruit you can imagine, waffles, pancakes, omelets…amazing! After breakfast we got our first drink of the day from our new favorite bartender, Victor. He was very funny and loved to talk (although sometimes it was hard to understand) so we decided that we would always go to him since we felt he deserved our tip money the most. We headed out for a nice. Walk on the beach after that and it was beautiful! Although it is quite windy here all the time, it doesn’t bother us since the temperature is perfect!
As I told you, we had a problem with our room reservation so after just one night at Majestic Elegance we had to pack our things and move into our final room at Majestic Colonial. Again, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and a banner that says “Honeymooners” on the door! We unpacked all of our things (something I usually don’t do but since we are here for 8 more nights I figured it would be easier) and got our bathing suits on and headed straight to the pool. We have yet to get in the water but laying out in the beautiful 81 degree weather couldn’t have felt better! We had some more great laughs with our favorite bartender and after a few too many drinks and still not being caught up on our sleep, we fell asleep by the pool and headed up to our room later for a prolonged nap. When I woke up (Beau didn’t sleep) it was time for dinner so we went for Mexican. They had a make your own nachos bar and some al a cart things on the menu so we took full advantage of both and had nachos, chimichangas, and kind of like a carne asada type steak. It was fantastic! After dinner we sat at the lobby bar and I had a glass of wine while Beau continued to drink his favorite drink of the trip so far, The Majestic (kind of like a creamsicle drink), and as we were sitting there it poured! When the rain finally slowed down, it was time for bed. Tomorrow is a new day and we’ll try our hardest not to sleep through it
Day 3:
It’s amazing what a tropical place can do for your sleep. I remember when we went to Hawaii last summer we woke up at like 6:30 everyday and felt completely rested! Granted there was a 2 hour time difference but I still don’t remember the last morning I woke up at 8:30 in the morning when I didn’t have to. This morning, now keep in mind that I had a preeetty nice nap yesterday, I woke up at 5:30 and didn’t look back. I was able to watch the sunrise and enjoy the beautiful weather on our porch before I woke Beau up.
We got out of the room around 8:45 and did our now routine trip to the buffet and walk on the beach. This time, however, we discovered the beach was top optional and we saw about 3 or 4 European women taking full advantage of that. Definitely something we will never get used to but it made for a good story to tell. We then again, went to see victor (who made us the most delicious passion fruit milk), laid by the pool and although we were extremely full from all the drinks and breakfast, we decided to finally try lunch at the Supreme Buffet; another fabulous meal. Since at this point we were in a food coma, we took a nap and when we woke up, we headed to the casino here! It was nothing like Vegas but it was fun! I lost my $20 and Beau won $20 on Black Jack and put that $20 on black and won again! That will pay for one of mu souvenirs ![]()
We could only stay for a while though because we had reservations at the hibachi grill and it was delicious and fun! The cooks and waiters were singing songs and the group we were with had just as big of a language barrier as we did haha. We sat at the bar in the lobby again and after a couple of drinks, we headed to bed. Another great day in paradise <3
Days 4 & 5:
Because we haven’t done much but lay around by the pool, drink, and eat, I thought putting these two days together would be just fine. Day 4 wasn’t a very good day. It started off great with our usual breakfast and walk on the beach and then we went and hung out at a different pool bar which is where we have discovered is the “party area” where both Beau and I were having a great time watching the workers dance and pump foam into the pool but then when we went to the room and took a nap, I woke up extremely sick. We slept until 10:30 and went to the snack bar to eat which was good but I just could not enjoy the night. [One breakthrough in our trip however has been that I might possibly have gotten sick from brushing my teeth with the water. I thought it would be okay but the couple we met before dinner said their bus driver on the way to the hotel said that even brushing your teeth can make you ill. Needless to say, our bottled water has been a great friend to us in every sense now.] We came up to the room and laid around with each other and watched 2 movies: Our Brother Ned and 50/50. Both really great movies. Some people would think laying around in a hotel room is not a great vacation but for 2 people who never see each other because of our schedules, it has been just what we needed).
Today was a much better day. I still felt a little under the weather but I tried my hardest not to let any of that get to me and I didn’t. We had a delicious lunch on the beach, laid on the beach, and had dinner at the same restaurant we had lunch and met a really nice couple from New Jersey to have a couple drinks with. For dinner we had HUGE lobster tails which I’m not a fan of but Beau is and he loved them. That restaurant is split in to two (seafood or steak) and since we went for seafood tonight, I would love to go back for the red meat before the trip is over. We’re going to make reservations to do some kind of day cruise on Sunday and have a day at the spa on Monday. I hate to wish away my trip but I can’t WAIT for those days.
Day 6:
Today was just as every other day…beautiful! We booked our day cruise for tomorrow to Saona Island and we are so excited! We also booked our spa day for Monday- a couples massage, sauna, and Turkish bath ![]()
At 6:30 Beau asked if he could take an hour nap and well, it turned in to both of us taking a 4 hour nap and instead of eating dinner at the Italian restaurant next door, we headed to the late night snack bar and had hot dogs and onion rings (as you can tell, we have eaten really healthy on this trip). At the snack bar they have a little family of cats running around…so cute!! We both have had the desire to pet something since we miss our little dogs at home so even though my husband is NOT a cat lover, he thinks the kittens are adorable. We have to be up at 5:45 for our excursion tomorrow so it’s time to go to sleeeep!

Day 7:
AHHH, what a WONDERFUL DAY!
Our trip started off rocky when our bus was 30 minutes late picking us up and it took a little over an hour to get to the boat but once we were on the sea, we had the best time! They took us on an hour catamaran ride out on the Caribbean Sea that had dancing and drinks and it was beautiful. We stopped at what they call the natural pool (a sand bar) where they had starfish (which we never found because we didn’t stay in long enough) but the water was beautiful and clear…I’ve never seen anything like it! After about 30 minutes there we went to the island for 2 hours where we had a wonderful photo-shoot with the photographer on the beautiful white sand, a great lunch, and as many drinks as we could handle and boy, did we take advantage of all of that.
The ride back was beautiful! We continued to drink and get to know the staff of the boat and we both laid on the front of the boat until we arrived back to the bus. Both of us got burned pretty bad today though but the sun is exactly what we needed because we haven’t really felt like we have gotten enough sun so far!
We bought a video of our day there even though we took our own and unfortunately, Beau left his new sunglasses on the bus
. It’s okay though, as we talked about, it could have been much much worse and we are not going to let anything bring this vacation down! We ate at the buffet for dinner (a first for us) and after one beautiful, exhausting day, we are headed to bed! It was a perfect day!
Day 8:
Although our trip is slowly coming to an end, we are thoroughly enjoying every minute together in this beautiful country. We may not have spent every minute doing “vacationy” things but like I said earlier, spending every minute together has been so wonderful. Today we had a couples massage. It was Beau’s first massage and we both enjoyed it sooooo much!! It was exactly what we needed after the long day we had yesterday. We spent time in the sauna and steam room together and as we got ready to get in the jacuzzi, we remembered that THIS PLACE HAS NO IDEA WHAT A JACUZZI IS. What do I mean by that? There are 4 jacuzzis here and not one of them is hot. Two of the “jacuzzis” in the pool are not even sectioned off and the other 2 in the spa ARE sectioned off yet they are the same temperature as the pool–cold. The weather here is beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but it is not HOT like in Las Vegas. It would be perfect to sit in a jacuzzi and enjoy the island breeze but we can’t do that.
Anyway, the rest of the day was as any other except we tried a new restaurant! The whole time we have been here we have had access to both Majestic properties but because of convenience, we just stayed at Colonial. But tonight, we finally tried the Italian restaurant next door that we have been trying to go to but ended up napping instead. It was incredible and both of us are a little disappointed that we had not tried coming to this hotel before. Since the Italian food was so great, we thought that maybe the sushi next door would be better than the stuff at our hotel. All we can tell you is…WHY ON EARTH HAVE WE NOT BEEN USING THIS TO OUR FULL ADVANTAGE?
So tomorrow, we are going back over there for more sushi and everything else we can fit on before the trip is over. We have also decided that although our hotel is just fantastic, we will make sure to spend the extra money to stay at Majestic Elegance next time we come to Punta Cana!
Day 9:
Our last full day in Punta Cana has come and gone ![]()
This has been such a beautiful vacation with so many wonderful memories with my husband. It rained all day today which was not bad for us since we are still burnt from our excursion. We went to the buffet at Elegance today called Flavors. It was muy fantastico! After our great breakfast we went to see Victor again and spend the rainy day under the hut at the bar with him! We met a great couple from Michigan and had a few too many drinks that landed us yet again in the room for a nap! We had to be up though for our romantic dinner (it came with our stay here since we’re on our honeymoon) at the restaurant on the beach and it was amazing and so romantic. It was the perfect end to our vacation. We had lobster bisque, chicken caesar salad, and steak and lobster. Not only was it delicious but the service was great which is no different from the rest of the vacation! I’m sad to say goodbye to the Dominican Republic but we also miss our families very much and are excited to share our experience with them. We will be back though and we will remember our honeymoon for the rest of our lives as the best vacation ever. We are more in love everyday and will continue to live like we’re on our honeymoon for the rest of our lives
The Pre-Honeymoon Blog
January 6th has arrived and I’m anxiously awaiting 11:00 so we can head to Miami! We have been waiting soooo long for this to come and I really can’t believe it’s finally here! I have decided to write about our day every day and when the trip is over, I will post the final blog and pictures to go with it. On a side note, packing is truly one of the more stressful things in life…especially when going to a place you’ve never been! Of course the weather is going to be beautiful but thoughts go through your head like, “do I bring a sweater?” And “how many outfits should I bring?” And my favorite one is asked when the pilot is ready for take off, “Am I forgetting something?”
This is both of our first real vacation without our parents and when you don’t have that endless supply of money from them (haha), thinking that you may have forgotten something that you have to buy there is stressful. The nice thing is we’re staying at what’s called an all-inclusive resort which means all the food and drink you can handle is included! All you have to do is tip the bartenders. So by paying for all of this ahead of time, it gave us time to save up for extra curricular activities! Don’t worry mom, I’m not leaving the resort! She still worries of course.
Thankfully in the great era we live in, we can FaceTime with our families (if my mom remembers everything I taught her).
It’s now time to get the last minute things packed and head to Beau’s parent’s house! Here we gooooo!
This is our beautiful resort!!
Meet Mr. & Mrs. Scarlett
As one of my New Years resolutions, I have decided to document the life of my husband and myself better and it started by getting us a new camera and video camera after our wedding. But I got to thinking that in the wonderful, technological world we live in, a blog would be perfect! Although posting photos and status updates on Facebook is a great way of keeping friends and family up-to-date, there’s nothing like having something to go back and read (like one of those journals I never kept up with as a teenager). The greatest part? This isn’t just for other people to enjoy, this is for us. When our kids are all grown and we have been married many wonderful years, it will be so amazing to be able to relive the beautiful memories that brought us to that point in our lives.
So, to start it all off…
This is Beau and Savannah Scarlett
Married on November 10, 2012
…enjoy
